Questions about Laser Skin Rejuvenation Treatment

How does fractional resurfacing work?

The handheld laser piece sends the laser energy deep into the dermis while sparing the tissue in untreated surrounding areas. The fractional laser breaks up the energy into precision microbeams that create narrow, deep columns of tissue coagulation. This eliminates old, damaged surface skin while stimulating healthy new growth from deep within.

Is a fractional treatment painful?
No. Our patients tell us they feel a snapping sensation (like a rubber band) or a sting with each pulse from the handpiece.

How long does a fractional treatment take?
Your treatment can take as few as 15 minutes to an hour or more – depending upon the area and size of the area being treated. Dr. Leong will be able to give you a time-frame during your initial consultation with him.

Are there any side effects from a fractional treatment?
Because of the safety and efficacy of the Palomar Laser Systems – side effects are very rare. Some people may experience slight redness and swelling in the treatment area – but this goes away in just a couple of days. On very rare occasions there may a slight change in skin coloration. The best way to avoid any complications is to make sure the most qualified person is providing your treatments. Dr. Leong performs all these procedures himself.

Are many people having fractional treatments today?
With the major, advances in laser technology today, more and more people are choosing laser resurfacing instead of surgery or in combination with other surgical and non-surgical treatments – such as injectable fillers.

How long before I will see the results from my fractional treatment?
The results are immediate – but will take a series of treatments to achieve the final results. This is because areas are treated in “sections” to avoid damaging areas not needing treatment. With each treatment you will notice more improvements in your appearance.

Will insurance cover my fractional treatments?
No. Insurance will not cover your treatments if they are done for strictly cosmetic reasons. If you are having them performed for medical reasons – they may help cover the cost.

Is there any financing available for my treatments?
Yes – today there are many cosmetic procedures that can be financed with Care Credit financing.

Remember: If it doesn’t look natural – it doesn’t look good. Dr. Leong is skilled in achieving the most natural looking results possible - he’s a specialist and you can trust your face to him.
