    • NCI Medical Student Research Fellowship.  Mentor – Joan Steitz, Ph.D.  Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry.  Yale Medical School.  Studied DNA-protein binding in context of mRNA processing, Summer 1995.
    • Howard Hughes Medical Institute Pre-doctoral Fellowship.  Mentor – David Sidransky, MD.  Departments of Otolaryngology, Medicine, and Molecular Biology.  Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.  Studied clonality and early detection in squamous cell carcinoma, 1997-1998.
    • T32 NCI Post-Doctoral Fellowship.  Mentor – Jennifer Rubin Grandis, MD.  Department of Otolaryngology.  University of Pittsburgh.  Studying cell signaling in squamous cell carcinoma.  Developing novel approaches to block Stat3 signaling in vitro and in vivo.  2000-2002.
    • Clinical Research Training Program.  Mentor – Joesph Conigliaro, MD.  Center for Research on Health Care.  University of Pittsburgh.  Projects addressing: 1) Racial and regional variation in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.  2003-present.
